Riding Music: Pre-Release

Styles-P

There is a long standing feud between Styles P and Beanie Sigel which, I believe, is still going on. So it seems fitting that Styles' new album is dropping right before Sigel's new album. I guess the beef goes on.

I listened to this one time and it seems pretty good. Load it up and get your ride on!

If you like it, buy it when it's released on December 4th.

Video: Tulsa Vagabonds in L.A.

I just saw this cool little video on BNQT which has Miles Rogoish and Alex Vazquez from the "Com'n Thru" video in it and Kelly Bolton riding some school in L.A.

Alex Vazquez has got those one-handed manuals on lock... and Kelly's 180 smith to 180 out is totally sick! Peep game...

This is kind of late but here's the Tulsa Crew in action at the Red Bull Son of a Ditch Jam. If you ever go to Tulsa you'll have a blast. The people are cool as hell and they have a great scene.

Give D Jam in San Diego

San Diego's Mission Valley YMCA gets shredded by the SoCal locals including Dakota Roche, Hoang Tran and Kelly Bolton.

Wow that looks like such a good day...

Riders include: Dakota Roche, Hoang Tran, Dylan Stark, Little Tammy, Conor Lodes, Christian Regal, Albert Mercado, and Mike Montgomery.

Gostface Killah - The Big Doe RehabGhostface Killah is dropping his new CD a full 2 weeks before the new Wu-Tang "8 Diagrams" drops. We'll see if that strategy works for or against him.

This sounded pretty good on first listen so load this up, get out from behind your computer and go ride your trick cycle...

Video: Rob Wise in Left/Right

I poached this video from the same guy's account that posted the Animal Jam below. He has this video labeled "Rob Wise - Standpoint6" which is wrong. This is Rob's part in Standpoint Left/Right which was one of the best street videos out in a while.

This was one of my favorite parts in the Left/Right DVD although pretty much everyone killed it. Does anybody else know of any other parts Rob has out?

Left/Right - features Larry Alvarado, Dave Belcher, Philly, Joe Mcintire, Kurt Rasmussen, and Rob Wise; montages feature Paul Horan, George K., Dakota Roche, and Tom White.

Buy it now Here.

Video: Animal Brooklyn Banks Jam

I guess this video is from 2005 but I have no idea what DVD it's from.

Check it out though 'cause it's got some cool shit in it including Garrett Reynolds shredding when I guess he was somewhere around 15 years old... Other riders in it are Van Homan, Sean Burns, Jared Washington, Vinnie Sammon, Nigel Sylvester and even Blackman. Pretty much the whole NYC crew that Adam from TheComeUp probably rides and parties with... haha big ups to Adam!

P.S. Everytime I see a Jam at the Brooklyn Banks it looks crazy. The NYC scene looks wild as shit and all the guys are goin' nuts. If anybody on here is from that scene let me know what you think of the banks jams and what they are like, I'd like to go to one.

Gorillaz - D-SidesD-Sides is the latest Gorillaz CD but don't let the title fool you... this shit is good. If you are a Gorillaz fan you'll definitely like this although the name, D-Sides, sounds like it's going to be just some scrap tracks that suck. It's 2 CDs long and has 22 tracks total.

Riding Music: Mudvayne - By the People, For the People

Ok, so I keep getting people emailing me about the music they like to ride to. Should I start a music blog? ... um no.

Anyways, some reader emails me this pre-release Mudvayne and it turns out its really good. So since I have been posting a lot of music here lately I am going to stop calling it "Music of the Week" and start calling it "Riding Music". And there will be a link to all the past "Riding Music" posts in the sidebar.

This will be released on Nov. 27th so if you like this CD go out and buy it when it's released.

Rooftop's Contest on The Come Up Board

Adam at TheComeUp has started something really cool on the Come Up Board. It's called "Ask The Pros". And basically you get to ask Pro BMX riders whatever questions you feel like... pretty awesome.

So far Adam has got Mike "Rooftop" Escamilla, Karl Poynter, Ryan Sher, Mike Ardelean, as well as pro photographers like Keith Romanowski answering all kinds of great (and stupid) questions. So go post some questions and maybe you can get some kind of unfair advantage when learning new tricks.

Anyways, Rooftop is having a contest with his sponsor Nixon in the thread. Head over to Rooftop's Q&A thread and scroll down to the very bottom to read about it. Do it right now because the contest ends Dec. 10th.

Stoked On Being Pumped Premiere

Well, this post is a little late but... So the Stoked On Being Pumped Premiere was last Friday at the Alehouse which is pretty much BMX central on Friday nights in Austin. Adam Roye spins the jams and everybody proceeds to get sloshed and try and dance.

I definitely think this is the video of the year as far as BMX videos go. The riding was flawless of course but there was something much, much different about this video. I think it boils down to the hard work and creativity that Mutiny put into this effort. It also comes from Joe Simon's eye and his creative vision which he has honed. It's something that is lacking in almost all the other videos that are rushed to market and it is definitely not there in the web videos that kids throw up on YouTube.

I told this to Joe and repeated it over and over to people... "That video made everyone look like a superhero." The angles, the riding, the editing... just the whole FEEL of the video was electric.
It made me feel like our "sport" is just as important as any pro team sport. Stoked On Being Pumped and Odyssey's Electronical are raising the stakes which is a good thing for BMX.

And let me emphasize that this is a video to own because you're going to want to watch it over and over, trust me. And if you have Blu-Ray you're lucky as hell.

So since everyone has seen the SOBP trailer you can head over to Defgrip and check out their exclusive B-Roll footage of the video. Most definitely worth a look.

All the after-party madness was captured by Devon Hutchins and can be seen here.
How many pros can you spot?

Music of the Week: Eminem - King Mathers

Not everybody likes rap. Hell, I don't even really listen to that much of it.

So why another Rap CD as music of the week? Well, King Mathers has been rumored to be the next studio album from Eminem but there are a lot of doubters out there. When somebody emailed me a link to this I figured I would give it a listen. I don't know enough of Eminem's music to say whether I think this is authentic or not but I will say this... it's still worth the download.

Before I went riding yesterday I loaded this up on my player and hit the streets. BMX is, ultimately, about having fun and this CD is a fun one. Different music creates different moods and vibes. BMXing on the streets just felt good with this pumping through my headphones.

Video: Odyssey Electronical Trailer 1

The Trailer for Odyssey's new video Electronical is out and it looks good. The Etnies Grounded video was pushing the limits of BMX video production values. Soon after we saw the Stoked On Being Pumped trailer from the guys at Mutiny which pushed it even further with HD footage, greenscreen compositing, excellent editing and excellent camera work.

Will Odyssey's video be on the same level? It seems that it will be. The trailer looks awesome and they have an great team.

Welcome to the the next level of BMX videos.

Video: JJ Palmere Is A Madman!

Dude, I suck so F*CKING BAD! That's what you'll say after watching JJ Palmere's bio in Props 66. Trust me, you'll say it. This has been out for a while now but it I wanted to do a post on JJ Palmere because I think he is one of the most underrated riders out right now.

JJ's bio alone is worth the price of this video. And don't give me that bullshit excuse that you saw it on the web already... the web doesn't compare to watching it on a big TV.

For almost 5 minutes JJ Palmere takes to the streets and KILLS IT

He destroys it...

He takes the "life" out of every spot he shreds.

That's his style though. He hits it fast and he hits it hard. He flows with perfect control and seems to hop shoulder hight with ease. Ok, maybe not that high but i'm pretty sure he hopped over a Honda Civic... watch for it. And that last uprail to gap toWTF?! is insane!
