Freestyler

Our boy Greg Terzian sent us some photo's of his Freestyler. It's an amazing ride that pays a little respect to the early days of Haro. It's not an exact replica, but it's close enough to bring back the good memories....and that's what it's all about. Good times.

Neighborhood BMX

So lately I've been hanging out with some of the neighborhood kids, just riding and watching them shred their skateboards, bmx, and scooters all over the neighborhood. They had built some awesome ramps, and were constructing makeshift box jumps everyday after school and on the weekends. I was talking with one of their dads, Dan, and he suggested that we build some sturdy ramps for them to shred. So this past weekend we got together and built the launch for what will be a box jump. At first the guys were content with just using it as a quarter pipe, but today I looked out the window and they had found a way to construct a jump out of it. Pretty creative. I took some photos of the action, so enjoy some grass roots BMX!

We've got a new plastic pedal on the way. Derek named it the Recycle pedal and unlike other companies doing the generic WellGo rip-off's, we've actually come up with our own mold. With super fine knurling and 15 molded pins per side, these things grip well. Hucke is currently running them and Chris and Derek have been testing them for awhile too.

Here's the lowdown:

  • Colors will be Black, White and Clear.

  • Retail is $12.95

  • Available in 90 days.

  • Weight is 13oz (pair). 6.5oz each.

Old School.

Who is the guy in the old school Haro uniform on the left? Looks to me like none other than Haro's BMX Brand Manager, Anthony Juan Carlos Degollado.

TonyD has been repping since the 80's. Know Your History.

ABA Oklahoma.

Khalen Young and Steven Cisar just finshed up with a cold weekend of racing in Guthrie Oklahoma.

For a video clip of 1 lap, click here.

Khalen (2008 #1 Pro) placed 3rd and 4th for the weekend while Steven placed 7th on Sunday. It's rough out there!!!

Thanks for tuning in.

Mike Ish top 5 / Music

Music can change your mood real quick, If the song sucks, it puts you in a mellow state of mind, You just cant ride! If you feel it though, your cranking just that bit harder, or grinding that bit smoother, Mike Ish rocks his Ipod pretty often, so I wondered "Whats he listening to?"

What kind of music am I into?

I'm into a few different types of music from Hip Hop & Rock N` Roll - to- Funk and oldies. It all just depends on what kind of mood you catch me in.

It wasn't easy to pick out a top 5 songs for riding- chilling - and to download. So I thought of a way to pick 5 songs without really picking them. The list of songs was determined By turning on my I-Tunes & I-Pod on shuffle and just writing down the first five that came up. The top 5 to download are just random songs in my i-tunes i thought people should know about.

First 5 Shuffle Songs from I-Tunes:
1. Miles Davis - "Fantasy"
2. A Tribe Called Quest-" Oh My God"
3. AC/DC- "RIFF RAFF"
4. The Doors- " Love Her Madly"
5. KRS-One - " Step Into The World"

First 5 Shuffle Songs From I-Pod
1. Lil Wayne & Juelz Santana - " Kind Of NY"
2. Messy Marv - "Aint No Cut On Me"
3. Fabolous- " Back To Do The Dam Thing"
4. Raekwon Feat Busta & Papoose - " Address Me As Mister"
5. Jeezy,Fabolous, Bleu Davinci - "Streets on Lock"

5 Songs Recommended to download
1. Motorhead - " killed by death"
2. Murder City Devils- " Alcohol"
3. Pink Floyd- " Young Lust"
4. Bob Dylan- "Along the Watch Tower"
5. Van Halen - " Hot For Teacher

a note from Dennis about Estonia...

Estonia was sweet! Girls were hot, partys were fun, and the contest was great. This is a picture of the bus that shuttled everyone too and from the contest. Way too many people.

Rib

On Saturday night we were riding the Unit, Ali Cranked up the tunes, things heated up and I let loose, I ended up crashing a hot move impaling myself onto my pedal and got winded so bad I was making some kind of Animal noise. I'm always positive though it'll get better.
I finally went to the doc for a Xray after 4 days of waiting for it to feel better and I have a broken rib, check out the pic...
The worst thing is I'm supposed to be going to Australia on Monday for the BMXGAMES with VANS

Its looking doubtful...

ABA Season Opener - Reno, NV.

This last weekend was the opening round of the 2009 ABA national season in Reno, Nevada. The track was the basic cookie cutter track that Reno usually offers but still made for some awesome racing. ABA’s 2008 National #1 Pro, Khalen Young, looked ready to put his Haro back on top of the podium where he ended 2008. Khalen won nearly every lap but after a couple bad starts in the main events, he ended up sixth on Saturday and fourth on Sunday, respectively. Steven Cisar was looking impressive in motos as well, but had an unfortunate crash in his semi final on Saturday that kept him out of the final. Sunday wasn’t a good one for Steven either, as he fell going into turn 2 and suffered a minor shoulder separation that ended his day early. Look for Khalen and Steven [shoulder permitting] to be back on track this coming weekend in Goodyear, Arizona.

Dennis.. Street as...

Dennis Enarson and a couple of his riding friends has a street only web vid up on vital.

Didn't Dennis have one up last week too? Also on the Dennis topic, he told me he's riding as much as possible right now before he goes in to have his sketchy shoulder operated on which will have him off the bike a little while.

Better late then never...

15 Days

On December 9th the trip to Indonesia started. We were going from 40 & 50-degree winters to a Tropical 75-80 degree winter.

Flying to Jakarta was the longest I have ever spent inside of an airplane. Here’s my in-air Flight time, 1-hour Las Vegas to LAX…14 ½ hours from LAX to Taipei… 5 ½ hours Taipei to Jakarta. And just think Colin had to fly 5 ½ hours longer then me from the East to the West coast.

How I ended up staying an extra week… We were out at dinner the night before are flights back to the U.S. & Colin and I got invited to stay longer. Colin already had another trip planned back home, so it took me a little while but I decided to stay.

Two days later the WIM Cycle BMX team and I took a 1-hour flight to Surabaya. The riders from Bandung, Indonesia also traveled there and meet up with us. We went there because WIM Cycle was putting on a contest, it was inside of a mall. There was also a 1-year anniversary party That JSI Sportz Magazine was putting on.

After a couple days of hanging out we went to the mall where the contest was, I didn’t ride in the contest. The ramps in Surabaya were in better condition. The box jump still had a bank landing, but the quarters didn’t flex or move as bad as the others. There was 1 public skate park in Surabaya and one that was being built.

While in Indonesia we ate mostly inside the malls at restaurants. (Every mall we went inside had at least 4 levels) The only time I would eat from the food stands was if it was “Sa’te”. It’s Grilled Chicken with peanut sauce. Sa’te is so good! McDonald’s take like McDonald’s no matter what country you are in. Fried Chicken is served with white rice at Mc D’s Indonesia. The Chinese food was amazing, best I have ever had! The Bakery’s were real tasty too I miss all those pastries!

December 23rd rolls around, the alarm goes off, its time to wake up for the 3:30am ride to the airport. I arrived at the airport check-in counter around 4:15am. The lady that is helping me is going over my flight Info; then she looks up at me and says, “Your flight isn’t until 2:30pm.” (I checked with Ian the night before my flight and he said the flight was at 6:00am. I thought that my flight had changed but he said it was the same time as Colin’s flight home.)

After that we figure just drop me off at a nearby hotel. I don’t know what time it was when I feel to sleep but I woke up some hours later to a man knocking at my door yelling Indonesian. Once I opened up the door he stopped yelling and said something to me… I said back to him, “ Airport?” …The man shook his head and said YA! So I closed the door put my contacts in and got my bags together. By the way my room was on the 4th floor, oh and there is no elevator. I’m pulling my bike and suitcase down the hallway, as I reached the stairs and there’s a guy walking up them with no shirt on. He says something and grabs my Bike bag from me. He puts it onto his back, takes it down the four floors and put in inside the shuttle van to the Air Port... I was on the way home again.

Thanks to are guides, everyone from: WIM Cycles, JSI Sportz Magazine, The Association of BMX Indonesia, Haro Bikes & Rockstar Energy Drinks for making it possible.

Nasty on Haro.

Just a quick note letting you all know that Nasty is officially on the Team. Here's the press release we sent out earlier today. Good things indeed.

Jan 6th, 2008.

Haro is pleased to announce the signing of Cory Nastazio to the Haro Bikes team for the 2009 season.

Cory, arguably one of the sports most iconic riders, had a successful year in 2008, and plans to take that same focus into the 2009 contest season. “I' re-dedicated myself to riding and contests last year and my results improved but not to the level that I set for myself. In 2009, my goal is to reach the top spot more than once…and with Haro’s support I have no doubt I’ll make it happen”.

In, what some would consider a wild and unexpected move, Haro offered Nastazio an opportunity to combine his unique blend of passion, personality, and riding style with its already diverse group of quality riders including Dennis Enarson, Colin Mackay, Ben Hucke, Mike Ishizuka and Ryan Nyquist.

“Cory brings a flavor to the team and brand that Haro embraces. His style and personality is very popular on the contest tour and we feel Haro will benefit from this. He also brings a lot to the table by way of bike knowledge. He knows what works and we will without a doubt use that knowledge and experience to our advantage”.

Cory Nastazio turned pro in 1999 making a name for himself quickly as one of Dirt Jumping’s most popular riders. With plenty of wins and media coverage since then, Cory remains a popular figure in BMX and that popularity is expected to continue in the years to come.

Look for Cory on the 2009 Dew Tour and
