Fantasy

I used to watch this everyday haha!

Trippin

Just got home from a loooong waste of time haha, I got called in for work over in Eastern Oregon. Drove hundreds of miles there and back and only ended up working for 4 hours or so while I was there. However the drive was awesome, I got to drive as fast as I wanted and rally some awesome stretches of road, I also got paid for milage and drive time so in the end it was worth it. Here's some snaps from my cellie!

Dennis Checks in...

I hit Dennis up to see how he is and he got back to me after his PE class at School, I still cant believe he's still at School. What kid at School wins Dew Tours?

Yo guys!
Just wanted to let you know my shoulder is doing pretty well so I'm going to try and see if I can get it 100% without getting surgery.

Its kinda the off season for big contest right now so I'm filming some web videos and just riding everyday with the local shredders like Steve Woodward, Christian Rigal, Gary Young and BBQ Billy.

Stefan Lantschner, an Italian Nike rider is staying at my house for a month and everyday has been awesome riding with that dude.

I think were gonna go up to Woodward west this weekend to film and hang out with Nasty. I'll be at the Toronto jam March 13 and I can't wait cuz it was a blast last year! That's about it for now. Peace!

Dennis Enarson

Here's a photo that his month long roommate Stefan took in a backyard session.. Ive ridden those ramps and its pretty hard to air that wall a foot or two, its tranny at the bottom and wedge at the top, its makes you want to case for sure, Dennis handles it like a school kid shouldn't know how...

What The Heck?

Cleaning your ears is one of those things you just do whenever you do it and don't think much about it. My last trip to Vegas some of the guys were talking about trying ear candles. My first reaction was "I clean my ears all the time so what's the point"?

I decided to go for it and let me tell you ha ha... I didn't even know what I was missing, my own voice sounds different, Music is crisp and I just feel better.

This is what came out of my head and the same came out of everyone else's. Kind of gross but amazing, you can find them at Whole foods type stores. And remember... Don't let good wax go to waste, use it on your favorite ledge or rail! Thanks Kyle Carlson for the photos!

Hey just wanted to throw a quick link up for a video that I found on www.sjbmx.com. It's called Carts of Darkness and it's pretty awesome. It's a bit lengthy but entertaining.

Home Again

Just got back from an awesome four day trip in Vegas, probably could've used another day or two to get some more clips but overall it turned out to be my best trip in a long time. kyle Carlson hooked up some new Osiris's, Josh Betley hooked up some epic spots to shoot and film at and Foskie hooked up the sickest A's jacket of all time.

Anyway be on the look out for a video/Interview up on vitalbmx.com in the near future; I'm off to pick up my new babymobile.

I really do ride...

W O W!!!! I rode my bike this weekend. Seriously... that's a big deal for me right now. I've taken a pretty big hiatus from riding the past few months, just to be around to help raise our new little boy. So anytime on my bike is amazing! I hooked up with my brother Shea and Tony Campos, and headed over the hill to Santa Cruz. A couple guys have been building ramps inside a warehouse for an upcoming jam, and invited us to come and session with them. It was pouring down rain, which was a bummer since we were driving a pick-up truck with our bikes in the back. So when we arrived our bikes were soaked, braked didn't work, and grips were throttled completely. NO BUENO. After some quick drying off, we session with the locals and had a great time. I snapped a couple pics of the spot for yoiu all to enjoy!

Nyquist Jump Comp.

A post from Nyquist-

Hey Everyone,
Hope your doing MOST excellent. I wanted to drop you all a line and see if you guys had any interest in coming out to a Jumping comp I'm helping put together here in San Jose. We are joining forces with PAL (Police Athletic League) to try and start some kind of program with BMX. The dates are May 1-2, 2009. As of right now I'm not sure if it's gonna be dirt or ramps... it all depends on what the city of San Jose allows with permits and all kinds of other stuff. Anyways, let me know if any of you guys can make it. Unfortunately it's not going to be a huge purse, but it's guaranteed to be a good time, and hopefully it'll grow in the years to come. Hit me up ASAP, cuz the dates are coming quick. Thanks! Hope all is well!

Ryan Nyquist

PS. I've included a rough drawing of what the layout might look like.
Check it out! Design might change, but I feel it's a pretty accurate description of the course. Hahaha.

Ryan's Back from Vacation

Yo yo yo!!! So I'm back after a nice, relaxing family vacation. We went on a Carribean cruise for 10 days. Some of the stops were Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, San Juan, and the Dominican Republic. The weather was warm and there were plenty of good times.

Renting scooters is fun... except for when they break down in the middle of know where. Still fun though.

It was the first time I had ever parasailed and I was really nervouse because I'm not a huge fan of dangling from heights. Not to mention my mom messing with me while we were 300 foot in the air.

Typical Ryan Nyquist sunburn. I was holding my nephew, Kyle at the beach and he had sunblock all over him, hence the uneven burn with finger marks on my boob.

Blinging Taxi driver. This guy was so proud of his rims and chrome accents. I just had to take a photo.

Well now that I'm back stateside, I'm going to be riding a bunch a and I'll be posting a bike check too with my new fly ride! Stay tuned.....

Im Back in Action

After 4 weeks taking it easy with a broken rib, I'm happy to report I just got back from a fun session on Guettler's backyard ramp. The weather in Greenville has finally gotten better here after it snowed just 2 weeks ago, and today has been in the 20's Celcius or 70's Farenheit.
If you've ever had time off your bike the first day back is weird for sure, The confidence drops a bit wich might be the worst thing, but just doing airs feels unreal, so you get stoked on the simple tricks that you can do that reminds you why you ride BMX in the first place.

I have a small interview coming out in the Australian BMX magazine Focal Point and I am about to fill out a "Favourites" questionaire for FATBMX so look out for that stuff soon.

Travel wise, Im hanging around Greenville for a few weeks, and I want to head out to So Cal in March for a bit.

Unfortunatly there is some bad news from Australia at the moment with the biggest natual disaster the country has ever seen, Bush fires have spread throughout the South East part wiping out towns, and many lives have been lost. Sadly one of the victim's included BMXer Nathan Charles from the region and although I never got to meet Nathan, he was a huge part of the Victoria and Australian scene and will be sadly missed.

Im still moving to San Diego I promise !!!!

Badders Rules.

I wanted to write a race report from this weekends mud fest but I forgot my camera at home. Although the race sucked, I got some pretty funny photos of the guys riding in trash bags to stay dry. Our pit area was under water and bikes and athletes were covered in mud. I gladly left my bikes in the trailer where they stayed clean and I stayed dry.

Vans Team Manager, Jerry Badders, made his come back to racing. Here he is doing someone dirty in the last turn. I am pretty sure Jerry is kicking this dude to qualify for the main event, but he might be kicking him because the guy is dressed as a Haro/Rockstar athlete impersonator. Either way, Badders rules. More photos later. -dB [justin kosman photo]

4 minutes with Ryan Nyquist.

Every so often, I'm gonna do a "4 minutes with". Sometimes it will be more, sometimes it will be just barely 4 minutes. This go around features Ryan James Nyquist. He's made some pretty big changes in his life starting off with a HUGE wedding in 2007, followed up by…well…I'll let him tell you.

Nyquist...mid bachlor party.
First off, where in the world are you right now?
At this very moment I am in an airport hotel business center in Miami, trying to print out a form to sign and fax to my realestate lady so I can sell my house in Greenville. I just got off a plane from Barbados where I had just gotten off a cruise ship through the Carribean with my family for a vacation. It was a great trip.

Okey dokey…jumping straight into it, you made some, what I consider, pretty sizeable changes in your life. Please give us the rundown.
Yeah there have been quite a few major life changes that have hapened recently... some great and others not great at all. I'll start off in July. My pregnant wife and I decided to move out to Northern California so we could be closer to my mom, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and the rest of my family. So after the Dew Tour in Cleveland, we packed up our life in one week, and drove cross country. We arrived around the 1st of August and have been trying to get settled ever since. A few months later, November 28 to be exact, came the birth of our first son, Tristan. He is amazing! But it's a lot of work. So much so that it has taken off my bike for more than 2 months. California is a great place to live, but compared to Greenville, where the spots and the people who I was riding with were second to none, the riding spots are not so great and I'm struggling to just stay motivated. I guess that where I'm at now.
Being that we are the generous company we are, Haro recently sent you two brand new complete bikes. We're gonna test your sales skills here: Tell us the features and benefits to both bikes, and which one you prefer.
Man they are both great bikes. One is a prototype model which I designed a while back. It's set up exactly for me and it's gooooooood. The other is a X Series Model and it's pretty sweet looking. Matte black everything with gold accents and crome wheels! That's all you're gonna get out of me.

What can we expect out of you for 2009?
Hopefully some good riding and some great contest results. I don't have any video parts planned and very minimal trips as of now, but things can change at any moment.

Let's wrap this thing up. Give us something from Ryan Nyquist. You can pick it from your celebrity side, or your normal everyday life side.
Well I have a guy sitting here, breathing down my neck, waiting for me to finish up on this "Pay by the minute" computer, plus I have to go #2 really bad. So I'm out!
Ryan.

Cleveland Arrival.

Steve Woodward and Dennis Enarson arrived into Cleveland today. After a small hotel mix-up and some credit card approvals faxed back and forth, everything is sorted and they are all locked in and ready for the contest.

Contest? They are in Cleveland for Ray's MTB video contest. Basically, it all breaks down like this:
  • Ray's park in Cleveland is an indoor venue for both BMX and MTB.

  • 1 MTB rider is teamed up with 1 BMX rider.

  • They film for 2 days at Ray's park, edit on the 3rd day, then judge the video's after.
It's Dennis Enarson and our new flow guy Steve Woodward that will be teamed up with Haro MTB riders Eric Porter and Phil Sunbaum. The two MTB guys seriously shred...can't wait to see the vid. Maybe Vital's Kyle Carlson, the video guy we hired for the event will post something to the site when it's ready.

Insane.

Here's what the boys were faced with upon their arrival. White.

Psyched kid.

This kid Scott Neill from the UK wanted a Forum Pro Lite REALLY bad. He encountered a small problem with the UK being sold out of them. Scott had options of other bikes...but the Pro Lite prevailed.

With none available in England, the guys at Moore Large (our distributor in England) ordered one from the US for him. This kid is psyched.
