Good Days

I was on my bike 1 second before this on the sign to death launch! haha

While everyone was in San Jose for Nyquists comp, I went out and shot some photos with Jared Souney and Ryan Sher. We started the day off at West Linn park, hit a few street spots and ended the day with a BBQ. Good times glad the weather is nice again here in Portland, I'l be in Vegas this week shooting photos and filming for an upcoming edit!

The Adventures of AC Fabulous.

Years ago I was eating at Taco Bell, and on the side of my cup was Allan Cooke. The text to go with his photo read, "The Adventures of AC Fabulous." Thecomeupbmx.net did an interview with Allan where he talks about the past, current and future adventures of AC Fabulous & his new brand manager position with Haro BMX. You can check it out here.

Haro Bicycles Appoints Allan Cooke as BMX Brand Manager

May 13, 2009, 2007-Vista, CA-Haro Bicycles is proud to announce that they have appointed Allan Cooke to the position of BMX Brand Manager.

“I am very excited about the addition of this bright young talent to our BMX group” said Joe Hawk, Haro’s Chief Operating Officer. “Allan brings a fresh new approach and a unique collection of skillsets; when combined with the talents of the current Product Development team, it will ensure that Haro maintains its edge as the leader in BMX for years to come.”

Allans’ experience in the world of BMX is broad, highlighted by over 11 years as a professional rider resulting in Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at contests such as X Games, Gravity Games and more. While sponsored by Specialized, he was exposed to the product development and marketing processes in addition to the duties and responsibilities typically handled by a Team Manager. Allan is the creator of the Local Exposure Tour, working directly with young riders at local parks and cultivating talent many of whom have gone on to become pro athletes. In addition, Allan has hosted or appeared in several BMX-related television specials aired on the Discovery Channel, Fuel TV, ESPN and many more.

“I am very excited to be given this opportunity at Haro and to begin the transition from a full time competitor to the business side of BMX. I am confident the perspective that I bring to the job along with the skills that I will soon learn will produce a winning combination for us both,” say Cooke. “In addition to my duties at Haro, I will continue to compete this year in X-Games and Dew Tours as well as producing the Local Exposure Tour. Haro isn’t just a company full of people designing and selling bikes, it is a company full of people that are into riding bikes which means I can work hard and still ride my bike as much as possible. I wouldn’t want it to be any other way. While I know I will miss my friends in Greenville, I’m really excited about this opportunity”

Haro is a recognized leader in providing innovative performance bikes, parts and accessories to the BMX, dirt, freestyle/street, and mountain bike markets. The company currently has over 1800 dealer locations throughout the United States and distributors in 51 countries worldwide. Bob Haro, who is known in the BMX industry as the “Father of Freestyle,” founded Haro Bikes in 1978.

Cisar tire burn.

Up in Fresno right now for a race. I'm not racing, but decided to shoot some photos. Today was my first day ever with a camera. Getting legit photos is a lot harder than it looks. The photo below is Steven Cisar whipping it out. In the photo he's burning the guys face with his back tire. Steven ended up landing on the guys bars, crashing, and suffered a separated shoulder.

Vans Wheels of Rock, from France...

What's happening?
Well from Australia to Japan now to France, this month has been a big one.

A few months ago I got an email about travelling France on a rock bus with bands and doing some skatepark demos. i couldnt say no. So here I am, in the bus laying on my bed that I have been assigned to for 10 days.

Im joined by BMXers Ali Whitton, Ben Hennon, Kevin Kalkoff, Alex Bourguignon and special guest Corey Martinez as this is a Vans roadtrip.
With also a few roadies, 2 bands, photographer and video guys, and one female driver there is 20 people in total, but we all manage to fit on the bus and we almost all have a bed. This bus has 18 beds!

It took 3 days for Ali and my bikes to arrive as they were lost by Air France so we rode other guys bikes. I rode Kevin Kalkoff's Fly bike brake less and started to enjoy it. Look out for a brakeless Mackay in the future!

For 10 days driving around France we only have 4 official tour stops. We have had the last 3 days riding sweet cement parks and a decent but wet and muddy set of trails. We live on the bus, we shower whenever we can, one rider I wont name, went for 5 days without a shower! We eat croissants for breakfast and usually Mcdonalds or Pizza for Dinner.

After this trip we have the FISE contest in Montpelier, France and after last years event being real fun I am looking forward to it..
Check out the website, here for daily videos and updates...
Thanks to Martinez for the lookback photo...

Japan

This past week I was lucky enough to go on a trip with VANS to a Navy Base in Yokosuka, Japan followed by a couple of days in Tokyo.

VANS are sold in the Navy Exchange Supermarket on base, and some Skaters and Bikers on the team were invited to be involved with the customer appreciation weekend. Bucky Lasek, Omar Hussan, Josh Boarden were the Skaters, and Scotty Cramner, Ryan Guettler, Coco Zurita, Michael Steingrabber and I were the Bikers.

The first 2 days were spent visiting some Elementary (or Primary) Schools on the bases and getting tours of the Aircraft Hangers and the George Washington Aircraft Carrier. The Schools we visited had around 300 kids and we did a demo on flat ground on the Basketball Court, but we usually found something to use to bunny-hop over. The kids got so pumped at any trick, so it made the experience fun.

Saturday the 2nd May was the main day for the Customer Appreciation event. We got to do 2 demos on ramps the Nate Wessel built for us. Box jump and ¼ set up. The ramps were dialed, but strong winds were a little tough. We managed to get 2 demo’s done and showed the kids a little more than some flat ground moves from the days before…

Straight after the massive autograph session we packed up and got the train to Tokyo, 12 of us from VANS, our entire luggage going on public transport was a mission. We arrived in Shibuya, Tokyo after 1 and a half hours and checked into one of the nicer hotels in the area.

Shibuya can be somewhat compared to Times Square in NYC, Its got all the shopping, electronic bill-boards, and people you could fit in one area. We took a day trip to the markets and to an electronics shopping district and we got to go to a Karaoke bar with my good mate Shoe-G (from Tokyo) were he set the place on fire with “Welcome to the Jungle”.

Japan was a great trip; it was fun mixing with the Skaters on the team and session together at the school, on the ramps and at the bar. We had no problems at all getting around, 90% of stuff has English written underneath the Japanese. Everywhere we went was super clean, and the people were real polite.

I have to thank VANS once again for an amazing trip…

Swine Flu

Hello all,
I AM SUPER HUMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just realized that what I thought was a regular case of the flu, was actually SWINE FLU!!!!!!!!! I read online what the symptoms were and I had everything they listed... fatigue, body aches, fever, cold chills... definitely swine flu. Luckily I survived, but I feel like I've changed a little bit. I've included a photo of myself (post Swine Flu) for you guys to look at and see if you can tell if something is different.
