So this trip was awesome, Dennis Enarson, Marcus Tooker, Ronnie Napolitan, Ryan Nyquist and Seth Klinger might be the best crew of dudea you could ever go on a trip with. Also it was Rad to have Brandon Means and Terrell Gordy along shooting photo’s and video. Things were looking bad as we were heading up north and all the weather report was saying that it was going to rain the whole trip.
Once we picked everyone up from there delayed flights we headed over to Bob’s Cycle Center to meet some kids and pass out some free stuff and to our surprise the rain had stopped. When we rolled up to Bob’s there was about 30 kids waiting for us, the parking lot was wet but we pulled out the grind ledges and had a pretty good session with the locals that made it out. We ordered Pizza for everyone that came out and when it was all gone we headed over to Epic Indoor Skatepark, good thing it was indoor because as soon as we loaded up the Grind ledges the rain started again. I guess there are usually only about 15 people at the Thursday night BMX session but because Haro was paying the tab 140 shredders showed up. The park was real spread out and street oriented which was a good thing because of all the ridaz, there was also a really fun bowl in the back section. Big thanks to all the staff at Epic for staying open an extra 2 hours.
So the plan the next morning was to ride Davis College before a session at the Martinez Skatepark but of course it was raining, we had a few hours to kill before a stop over at Samar Carillo’s shop, STFBMX so we went over to this crazy indoor trampoline place. We had so much fun; we bounced around for a few hours and played dodge ball with a bunch of little kids. We had planned to session the ledges at STFBMX but the rain wasn’t going to allow it, we stopped off a Chipotle to pick up 50 Burritos for all the peeps to munch on while we premiered a video of the Haro trip to Australia late in 2010. After that we headed an hour north to the closest indoor riding spot (Ramp Rats) in Santa Rosa, a bunch of kids from STFBMX cruised up as well and the session was rolling till midnight, thanks Mike for staying open.
It was no big surprise that the next morning when we got up and moving it was of course raining once again, this put a huge damper on the session we had planned at what was Ryan Nyquist’s stomping grounds as a kid the Calabasas Jump Park. So with the rain killing the dirt session we headed over to Calabazas Cyclery, it was pretty rad to see that even with the rain there was at least 100 people there to see all the boys, we hung out for a few hours signing autographs and throwing out free stuff. When we wrapped up we hopped in the rig and headed south 7 hours.
To our delight when we peeked out of the hotel room window in the am it was nothing but blue skies, so we headed down the 5 to Fullerton Bikes for a ledge session in the back lot. It was cool when we showed up they already had a few obstacles out and the sesh was going. We unloaded our ledges and it was on, riding with the locals was super fun, there are some really good riders in the Fullerton area. We ordered Pizza, tossed out a ton of goods and rode for at least 3 hours, over all it was the best day of the trip thanks to the nice weather. Awesome trip for sure, many more like it to come.
Peace
