Me, Hucker Mike, Keith Mulligan, Nasty, and Darryl Tocco all went to talk about the new ride video called Range Of Motion which should be out pretty soon. I saw the whole video last Friday night at the premiere and it's awesome. I recommend getting a copy. Here's a picture of me and Nasty bout to go on."

Allan Cooke Retires?
After Allan's Prelim run in park at the final stop of Dew Tour in Orlando,
Florida on the weekend, the announcer let everybody know that Allan had
finished his run and will be retiring from competition. A weird twist was
Allan's preliminary run was good enough to get the last spot for the finals
the next day so his retirement was on hold for 24 hrs.
I wanted to hit up Allan to find out more about the retirement and his plans
for the future.
So what's going on, nobody knew about this move?
Well I wouldn't call it a retirement, I'm just not going to compete in the
Dew Tour anymore. I have been going to every contest I could get to for the
last 12 years and I want to spend my last good years on my bike going
something different, I will always ride but there will come a day where I
will stop pushing myself and I want to see what I can do riding without the
time and effort it takes to do a full year of competition.
Ok fair enough, So you've been in the Dew Tour since the start in 2005, 5
years of battles, does it get boring?
Man It's never been boring, I have been lucky enough to be in the majority
of the finals at the Dew events and when the lights in the stadium go off
and the crowds are cheering, it's an exciting feeling to be able to put
everything you have into the next two minutes of BMX on that stage. Even
though we are all out there competing against each other, I can remember so
many times where the guys would be cheering me on from the deck in the
middle of my run. I remember being so stoked on other guys runs, it was
just so much fun to be a part of all that good BMX.
Have you gotten many injuries from doing the Dew?
I knocked some teeth out two separate times. I don't really remember
getting injured much at the Dew Tours but I do remember riding some of the
events with injuries, I can't tell you how much the Dew medical staff has
helped me over the last 5 years. Stitches, Ice, put teeth back in, taped
sprains, drained knee several times, made a custom little brace for a broken
foot, and infinity I.B. Profen pills. They did it all this because I wanted
to ride, I didn't have to I just wanted to and that was enough for them even
though they knew that it wasn't always the best idea.
Do you think BMX needs the Dew Tour?
I think so, I don't think it's the most important thing but it plays an
important role. Look at how many dudes that have never made a final and
have little support have been able to come out to a Dew event and go home
with a fairly easy $1000. That money buys a lot of Ramen Noodles, and that
goes a long way for a BMXer.
Any memorable stops for you?
Yeah man there's so many stories, I would have to write a book to put them
all down.
Your only 27 years old and it seems you are riding well, and obviously still
able to make a final, what's going on from here?
Managing Haro BMX, being a good Dad to My Daughter Elle and a good Husband to my wife Mary are my main focuses these days. As far as riding goes, since I took my brakes off, got a free coaster I have been having so much fun and I can only imagine how fun
it's going to be without it being my main source of income. I want to film
a lot of things, things that have been buzzing around in my head for the
last couple years but never got around to because of all the contests. I
would really like to put all my effort into a full part in a video, anyone
have an open spot, Haahaa. I'm still going to do X-Games Mega Ramp, I want
to go to the worlds and other fun comps overseas next year. I jokingly tell
people that I'm more of a soul rider these days, hahaha. I guess it's sort
of the truth though.
Thanks...
My parents, brother, and wife. No telling where I would be without those
people in my life. All of my sponsors over the last 12 years, all the guys
I competed with and anyone who has ever helped me out over the years.

Mackay Update!
Well summers gone and fall is here in America. Dew tour season is over, and I get my cast off my left wrist today and after four weeks on the sideline I’m ready to ride around again!
I broke the bottom of my thumb in prelims at the Salt Lake City stop of Dew Tour; I had been riding good and was pumped for the comp. I enjoyed riding the jumps and by the time it was my run in prelims the jump builders had just wet the jumps completely and I hate wet jumps for some reason mostly I just feel like I’m going to slide out spinning 3’s. I was pissed before I dropped in so my first run was horrible, I didn’t even make it through all the jumps.
2nd run came around and I was fired up and it was my last chance to qualify for the final. Jumps were dry, and things were going a bit better, I got loose on a truck driver and managed to push through and the last set was coming up I got a super pump and kicked a 3 no foot can as big as I could, and I stalled too much out and had to bail, I ended up landing real low and I put my hand out to soften the fall and I knew straight away I just broke my wrist.
From there I chilled the rest of the day knowing at some point I had to go to the Hospital and go through all that crap.
I got to the hospital at like 10pm and got an x ray and was told I needed surgery.
Surgery in Salt Lake city was going to take too long to fit me in, so I got a hook up with the Dew Tour Doc’s with a hand surgeon in LA and flew there to get it fixed.
My Vans teammate Coco Zurita baby-sat me through the short stay in LA. We went clothes shopping a few hours after surgery! The next day I flew to Las Vegas for Interbike and mingled there for a few days.
So 4 weeks has been and gone and right when everyone is lazy after Dew Tour I’m stoked to ride! I even put my bike together last night equipped with a straight cable. (Over the Gyro)
I just got this in the mail recently also, my very own flick trix bike! This sweet bike is coming out in January 2010 so start saving! I’m real stoked on it.
I want to start filming for web video pretty soon as I’ve been thinking about some moves while I’ve been injured. I also want to head out to Cali for a trip before the end of the year.
Take it easy, Colin Mackay

Nyquist wins Dew Cup 2009
Although Nyquist came in 5th tonight in the Dirt final in Orlando Florida, He had the hard work done in previous Dirt events to win the overall Dew cup. Ryan's placed 3rd in Chicago, and first in both Portland and Salt Lake City in the 4 stop series. Ryan rode well today and we are all pumped for his hard earned overall victory. Congrats from everyone at Haro Bikes!

UCI Supercross, Frejus France.
Last weekend was the final round of the UCI Supercross series in Frejus, France.
Khalen Young ended up 7th out of a starting field of 140. Pretty impressive.
He looked solid in the qualifying rounds, noteably the semi final.

Steve is a Haro flow guy, and shreds, in case you didn't know.
Haro and Premium Teams Weekend Away
This Past weekend, Haro team riders Marcus Tooker, Allan Cooke, and myself (Colin Mackay) joined Premium team riders Dan Foley, Josh Harrington and Rob Darden on a 6 hr drive from Greenville, NC up to Maryland.
Our first stop was the Charm City skate part in Baltimore. This Park has a bunch of fairly small ramps and obstacles but the guys still had a good session. Josh and Rob played on the drive way section and Dan enjoyed riding the park he used to ride all the time being from the Baltimore area. Allan got some nice clips showing his brake-less / free coaster style and Marcus blasted super high on the wall-ride out of the bowl. The turn out was massive, there wasn't much deck space and if you wanted to drop in you had to be hungry or you would be sitting on the deck all day!
Our next stop was the Groove Merchants BMX shop in Martinsburg,West Virginia. We were welcomed by a bunch of local riders and if you get a chance to go to the store you should, its a proper BMX shop, they have all the latest Haro and Premium bikes as well as anything else you desire, its well stocked!
After some hot dogs, we headed to a nearby car park for a bunny hop contest and we were impressed with the locals, they can hop! The top 3 locals won prizes from Haro and Premium and Dan Foley put on a pro demo and took the highest mark with 43 inches.
It was cool to hang out with everyone and check back soon for a web video from the weekend.. Thanks a lot to the Charm City park and especially everyone at Groove Merchants for welcoming us and hooking us up Dinner.

New End of Summer Ben Hucke Video
Check out a hot new release of Ben Hucke's End of Summer 09 web video.
Tailwhip nose pick up stairs? Sweet lines, and when did Ben learn nose wheelies?
This part could easily be in a DVD.
