The NIKE 6.0 BMX PRO in Huntington Beach over the weekend was probably the coolest event that I've been to. It was more crowded than I had ever seen it in Huntington Beach and the stands were packed for the BMX park event that was running in collaboration with the US Open of Surf. Haro Pro's Dennis Enarson and Allan Cooke were in the building and I was on course getting a decent sun burn while shooting photos of those guys.
The contest was a 4 day event and although each day was a contest in itself with $1000 first place cash prize, the first 3 days points tallied together is what made for the final 10 riders on day 4. The winner of day 4 took home $10,000 and second place took home $5000. NOT BAD!
Allan Cooke was the lone Haro pro in the final after taking 12th on day 1, and 6th on both day 2 and 3. Allan ended up 7th overall which is amazing for a dude who now runs the BMX brand and sits at a desk all day.
Enjoy the pics, the good ones were most likely shot by Pete Demos. I'll gladly take credit for the decent ones. -dB
