Canadian freerider Kurt Sorge has been riding for Giant since he was 18. He started riding at 13 and was competing in dirt jump and slopestyle contests soon after that.
Sorge grew up in British Columbia and emerged on the international freeride scene in 2008 when he finished second at the Red Bull Rampage contest in Virgin, Utah. Riding a prototype version of the Giant Faith freeride bike, which he helped develop, Sorge pulled off a huge tailwhip over a 60-foot gap jump. Since then he has been featured in magazine and video shoots and starred in the 2010 film “Follow Me.”
Last year Sorge won the Châtel Mountain Style contest in Portes du Soleil, France, and he kicked off his 2010 season with a win in April at the John Henry Days Dirt Jump competition in Vancouver, Canada.

Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Kurt Sorge was among the world’s most talented freeride mountain bikers competing at the October 1-3 Red Bull Rampage competition near Virgin, Utah. Sorge, who finished second at the 2008 Red Bull Rampage, once again put on a show, piloting his green Giant Faith to some jaw-dropping airs in the extreme desert terrain that serves as the arena for the Rampage.
First held in 2001, the Red Bull Rampage is considered the most challenging freeride contest in the world. It showcases riders and their bikes in a creative, free-flowing format that allows each to choose their own lines and tricks over a 1500-foot vertical drop against the red-rock desert landscape. Kurt’s tricks included a jump over a massive 60-foot canyon gap. In the end, he finished in the top-10 among the world’s best.
